Priority in Task Management
Tasks priority is one of the key features in Task management. Almost every tool created for managing tasks has this feature.
Task2Gather is not an exception. Right now the priority can be set either by putting the deadline or by assigning the special color to the task.
The tasks with deadline are always sorted out in this way: the tasks with the nearest deadline are shown at the top of the list. The tasks without any deadline are shown at the bottom and they are put in alphabetical order.
The color is another opportunity to assign priority to the tasks. Each project in Task2Gather can have its own legend. The legend can be changed and created only by the owner of the project. To assign meaning to each color you should click “Legend” button that is in the upper left corner of the screen. There’ll emerge a table where you can type in the meaning of each color. So, if you need priority you may simply mark it this way:
So, when you need to see all tasks with high priority you may simply set filter in the bottom right corner switching off all color except red or yellow or any other color that you need to filter.
In spite of this our users from time to time demand the addition of priority feature. At the moment we’re speculating on this feature and we’d like to hear your opinion on the subject. Do we really need to overload the interface with one more feature that can be easily replaced by others that I’ve described earlier in the article?

I think you should add the Low/Normal/High functionality. The color labels are a nice workaround for now, but if you compare this to most task systems, color is used to categorize tasks, not to prioritize. Even Outlook has color labels, but keeps the priority functionality in place too.
I personally think that this may indeed clutter the interface a bit more, but that should be the motivation to slightly redesign/optimize it instead of just adding the new functionality.

Olivier, you’re quite right. We shall see what we can do about it.

I highly agree. Please add the Low/Normal/High functionality. It would make prioritizing much easier and quicker instead of having to figure out dates.

+1 for priority as a seperate concern, I also use colours as a category indicator…

Priority is a must here, would be glad if it’s added. 3 levels - Low/Normal/High are enough.
