Task2Gather reviewed at AppStoreApps

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

The review of Task2Gather has been just posted at AppStoreApps. Doug says “Task2Gather is a list manager that keeps all of your projects ‘in the cloud’. This is accessible online via a Mac and a PC and can be updated over the web. You’ll never have to worry about losing your personal, family or business tasks. . .ever. Another feature is the ability to add multiple ‘participants’. You can organize your lists(even further), or even let friends or family members have their own lists.”

A main disadvantage of iPhone version of Task2Gather according to his point of view is that Task2Gather works only if you have access to the Internet. So, iPod users can’t use it if there is no Wi-Fi coverage.

Therefore I’d like to unveil our plans connected with the release of a new iPhone version of Task2Gather. We are going to realize the most urgent feature that all of our users longed for that is the ability of Task2Gather to work offline. Other features are connected with the functionality, so that Task2Gather on iPhone could act exactly the same way as on desktop. They are:

1. The ability to set up deadline

2. The ability to set up estimated and spent time

3. The ability to assign different colors to the tasks

What other features do you find really important that should be added to iPhone client for Task2Gather service? Perhaps you have some other interesting ideas on improving Task2Gather.

Doug also has shot a video review and posted it on YouTube. Press here to watch it.

Generation of Reports in Task2Gather

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

We consider that one of the must-have features for a good collaborative on-line task management service is the ability to generate reports according to all actions that take place in the system. At the moment we consider three kinds of reports in Task2Gather:

User statistics (you can specify the project name, participant name, time period and get to know how active the user is, which tasks he/she created, which task are assigned to him/her, which tasks completed and which are not)

Project statistics (you can specify the project, participant, time period and get to know about the user’s activity in each separate project)

Project progress (you can specify the project name and time period and get to know about total estimated and spent time on the project tasks)

And what report would you find useful? We are ready to listen to your ideas and suggestions. Perhaps we’ll be able to realize some of them in Task2Gather.

Mark Nassal at Stress-Free Productivity Site has reviewed Task2Gather. He singles out the main features of T2G that makes it worth using like simplicity and sharing. He also underlines the fact that Task2Gather was created specially for VITO Technology to manage tasks in the team of developers.

Other good points of Task2Gather according to Mark Nassal’s review are the iPhone client that is already available at Appstore and WM client which is being beta-tested now.

How to make Templates in Task2Gather

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Most of the people have come across with the feeling of déjà vu as if something has already happened. Probably, it happens because we are to do some things more then once in our lives, for example, going shopping, getting prepared for a vacation or a business trip, etc.

So, using Task2Gather you don’t need any more to compile a new list of to-do’s and to-take’s every time. With Task2Gather you may create a special project called “Templates” where you can put seperate lists for different life situations. For instance, it can be different shopping lists, lists of actions that reoccur from time to time, etc. When you need one of the templates, you just choose the one you need, make it highlighted by clicking it, after that press “Duplicate” in the menu panel. There emerges the copy of the list you’ve chosen (*name of the list* copy), click the “name of the list” copy and press “Cut” in the control panel then choose the project where you want to paste this list and press “Paste”. Now you may enjoy checking the list once again. It’s really useful! Just try!

How to Use Colors

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Colors are filters that can help you to pick out only the tasks with the specific color. First of all you need to think of the colors legend. For instance, our company uses the following color legend:

New tasks

Bugs

Marketing tasks

Wishes

SEO tasks

Personal

To assign a color to a project or a task you should click the one you need (so that it is highlighted) choose the color in the “Additional info” panel and press “Save” button.

If I need to see all my tasks for Marketing I choose yellow square in the left bottom corner, my name and all projects.

After that all tasks that suit this parameters are shown “In filter”.

How to Use Filters

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

Using filters makes your work with the Task2Gather service easier for you and for your boss.
The left column is the filter where you can search tasks according to: Project, Participant and Color.

Set different filter parameters in the left column and see tasks that are “In filter” on the right.

“In filter” tasks are written in black and “Not in filter” tasks are in grey.

How to Use History & Discussion

Monday, October 6th, 2008

To add a comment to the project or task click the one you need (so that it was highlighted) and in the field “Comment for discussion” enter your comment. Then click button “Save”.

The discussion can be shown in two different modes:
“Show all changes and discussion” (in this mode there are shown all events concerning the task, for example, who created a task, whether it is complete or not, who this task is assigned to, all comments and so on)

“Show only discussion” (only comments to the task are shown).

How to Use Deadline

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

Every Project or Task in Task2Gather can have a deadline. The deadline can be put either when creating or editing a task. Click the task so that it is highlighted and in control panel click “Appoint”. There appears a calendar where you can choose any date.

When you set deadlines to all tasks it is much easier to see the order in which you should  fulfill them. For this purpose you can open “List” mode of your tasks so that the tasks with the nearer deadline are shown in the top of the list.
